Julia & Pip enjoying a glass of Astrolabe Sauvignon Blanc.
This special wine is from the Marlborough region, which can be found at the top of the South Island. Astrolabe was founded by George’s and Julia’s Uncle Simon and Aunty Jane. This is also a family-owned and operated business. We must note that we do not only serve this wine onboard because it supports our family but also because it IS a particularly good wine.
“Sauvignon blanc is widely considered by the wine drinkers of the world to reach its pinnacle of potential in Marlborough. The Astrolabe Province Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is made from grapes grown across three Marlborough sub-regions: the Wairau Valley, the Awatere Valley and the Kēkerengū Coast. (…) I have sought out sites across the whole Marlborough wine region, looking for different soils and climates and carefully managing cropping levels so that I have the best fruit to work from”, Simon Waghorn, winemaker.
Enjoy our treats while taking in the scenery.
Alternate beverage options are also on offer, these include either a Steinlager Classic beer, orange/apple/mango mixed juice, coffee, tea or hot chocolate. (We do not offer red wine because of the possible stain hazards on the new very white boat and people’s clothing of course – the ride can be a bit bumpy in windy weather)
We have a water station with free drinking water available for self-service during the whole cruise. If you want more than the first free drink you a more than welcome to purchase this onboard – cash and credit card payment is available.
